Friday inspiration: the 8 best tech news podcasts
It’s not always easy to keep up with the latest developments in technology. Yes, there are about a gazillion platforms and media to choose from, but that’s just as much...
Tech News Briefing
If - like me 86% of the time - you have the attention span of a gerbil, then Tech News Briefing’s the one for you. It’s a solid 10 to 15 minute daily dose of news about leading companies, new gadgets, consumer trends and cyber issues, presented by The Wall Street Journal's reporters.
Pivot
But maybe you’re the type of person who prefers to take her or his tech updates with a side of witty repartee. Then I would defintely recommend Kara Swisher and Scott Galloway’s Pivot: not only do they have great chemistry - much, much banter there is to be had - but few people have better insights into the true implications behind dry tech and business news facts. Probably because they have a track record longer than Marcel Proust’s “A la recherche du temps perdu” (It’s listed as the world’s longest novel. I checked.) in the tech and business industry. Plus, I love that they - especially Scott - are never affraid to voice extracritical opinions about the Tech Gods of this world.
Vergecast
This might be very well be the nerdiest podcast show of this already quite nerdy list. It’s the official podcast of the popular tech website, The Verge, which covers the very latest tech developments. Every Friday, hosts Nilay Patel and Dieter Bohnr make sense of the week in tech and gadget news. And, every Tuesday, they have in-depth interviews with major technology leaders.
Tech Tent
Tech Tent is a weekly BBC World Service podcast about how the technology business is transforming the way we live and work. It’s fun, snappy, insightful and offers a good mix between journalist opinions and on-site (well you know, in pre-corona times and maybe again in a few months) interviews.
The WIRED Podcast
Every Friday, this award-winning (I have no idea which awards, though. I tried to look it up with my award-winning research skills, but gave up when I couldn’t find it after 35 seconds (like I said: gerbil)) WIRED UK Podcast, hosted by James Temperton offers an informed and entertaining rundown of latest technology, science, business and culture news.
This Week in Tech
This Week in Tech – TWiT for the insiders – is the weekly flagship podcast and namesake of the TWiT.tv network. It is hosted by Leo Laporte and features round-table discussions and debates surrounding current technology news and reviews, with a particular focus on consumer electronics and the Internet. For people who still live by the religion of Live Viewing: the podcast is streamed live on Sundays at 2:15 P.M. PST.
Steven’s Weekly Podcast
For those customer experience fiends amongst you: every Friday, nexxworks Partner Steven Van Belleghem offers a snackable dosis (about 5 minutes per episode) of his insights about that week’s most striking developments in marketing and customer experience. It’s not just about tech, as Steven is a big believer in the human side of customer relations, but tech obviously has a ledaing role.
Clockwise
Clockwise is a rapid-fire round-table discussion of current technology issues hosted by Dan Moren and Mikah Sargent, featuring two special guests each week: four people, four topics. If you can’t stand any content longer than 30 minutes, you’ll be excited to hear that the hosts are always watching the clock making sure that no episode is longer than they promise.
